Imap updating cached messages
The other user only has outlook (desktop) connected. I have tried removing his email profile and rebuilding it, but that does not seem to work.Summary: Configure Outlook 2013 for Cached Exchange Mode so users can access their recent Exchange server email messages offline. He says he gets email on his Iphone and Ipad, but not his outlook unless he closes it and reopens it. They say that they do not receive email in their outlook unless they close it and reopen it. 1 of the users has multiple devices connected to their mailbox (ipad, iphone, and outlook (laptop)).If a user upgrades from an earlier version of Outlook to Outlook 2013 and you previously configured Outlook for Cached Exchange Mode, those old Cached Exchange Mode settings are automatically applied to Outlook 2013.For example, if a user account was configured to use Cached Exchange Mode in Office Outlook 2003, Office Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010, Cached Exchange Mode remains enabled when the user upgrades to Outlook 2013.The only way around this is to have Outlook literally point at each IMAP inbox for which you want instant delivery of emails.
When an Outlook 2013 account is configured to use Cached Exchange Mode, there’s always a local copy of a user’s Exchange mailbox ready in an offline data file (file) on the user’s computer (by default in the C:\Users\App Data\Local\Microsoft\Outlook folder.) Whenever the user is offline and using Outlook 2013, the program works from this local copy and with the Offline Address Book (OAB).
The user can select Cached Exchange Mode or Online Mode during account setup or by changing the account settings.
